In solidarity with education workers in Ontario, the Canadian Media Guild is calling on the Ford government to end its attacks on workers’ rights in the province.
The concern comes as the government moves to impose a contract on some of the lowest paid workers in the education sector during ongoing bargaining.
This lack of respect for the bargaining process has raised fears among all education workers in the province, including those at TVO, that are about to start bargaining their collective agreements.
In addition to ignoring the right of workers to a fair and negotiated contract, Ford’s proposed wage increase is far below inflation.
This, from a government that has been artificially suppressing wages for all public service workers for three years with Bill 124, and following a decade of austerity.
Ontario workers deserve better.
