I am writing on behalf of the Canadian Media Guild to urge you to appoint a new chair to the CBC/Radio-Canada board of directors as soon as possible. And it’s crucial that the appointee be someone who has a proven commitment to a strong national public broadcaster.

CBC/Radio-Canada is an important national institution that requires proper, independent oversight from a chair and board who can effectively represent the public interest. We firmly believe that such oversight is lacking when the offices of President/CEO and Chair of the Board are occupied by the same person.
