Please join people from across Canada and Australia to pressure our governments to bring kidnapped journalists Amanda Lindhout, a Canadian, and Nigel Brennan, an Australian, home. The two journalists were kidnapped more than a year ago in Somalia, where they were covering the civil war, and have been held for ransom ever since.
Amanda, Nigel and their families need your help. They need both the Canadian and Australian governments to make it a priority to secure their release. Add your voice by signing a letter on their behalf at http://www.gopetition.com/online/31418.html.
The Canadian Media Guild has joined the campaign by Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) to ask the federal government to do everything in its power to bring the two home.
What you can do:
1) Sign the petition here.
2) Tell all your friends about the campaign.
3) Send the letter directly to the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and your local MP.
4) Give CJFE feedback. Amanda’s family values your support. CJFE will pass along any information you send us about actions taken in this campaign or responses received. Email: jpayne@cjfe.org.
The goal is to gather as many signatures as possible by November 15, 2009. The petition will then be delivered to the office of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Please remember: This is about personal action. Media attention could jeopardise the safety of Amanda and Nigel.
Thank you very much for taking part in this campaign to bring them home!
