The Canadian Media Guild has an exciting part-time opportunity for the right candidate to make a difference in both the union and Factual TV worlds. We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated Organizer for our Fairness in Factual TV Campaign, which is seeking to gain support from workers in the factual TV industry for improved and safer working conditions for Canadian factual TV workers. The position is for two days a week and is located in Toronto.
Under the direction of staff representatives and elected officials, the successful applicant will work independently and as part of a team, reaching out to and meeting with workers, participating in advocacy and government relations, and finding new and inventive ways to serve workers in factual TV.
Knowledge of and contacts within the factual TV industry are required, as is experience in organizing. An understanding of collective bargaining is an asset. The successful candidate must be committed to the ideals of the labour movement.
The salary is pro-rated, based on an annual full-time salary of $88,025, and an additional 20% in lieu of benefits. This is a one-year contract with possibility of extension.
