Four final provisions of the new collective agreement at the CBC will come into force next Monday, January 9, when employees will be slotted on the new wage scales (click here to view the scales). The next across-the-board wage increase will take effect April 1.
The new Work Week and Days Off article means that most employees will now have a 38.75-hour work week. However, the 36.25-hour week will continue for those employees who work 36.25 hours per week according to the previous agreement (eg. employees in sales and marketing, IT and administration).
As well, employees will be paid overtime after 7.75 hours a day or 38.75 hours a week. The new agreement eliminates the averaging of overtime over four weeks and weekly assigned employees will now have their overtime calculated after one week.
The new Dispute Resolution article aims to promote resolving workplace conflicts at the local level before filing a grievance.
An electronic version of the new collective agreement will soon be available on line at www.cmg.ca.
