October 20, 2023
Your CMG Bargaining Team met with management for the first time this past week, in an effort to create a new collective agreement in Port Credit.
We made a good start working on how formal complaints are handled at CBC, including how some of the new federal regulations on Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention processes are reflected in our collective agreement. There are also discussions on how we can improve our grievance process so that complaints can be addressed as quickly and fairly as possible.
To help kick off our interest based bargaining, Catherine Tait, Barb Williams, Marco Dube, and other senior CBC/SRC and CMG leaders traveled to Port Credit on October 16, 2023. It was evident that both the union and management are very committed to finding a fair deal before the current collective agreement expires on March 31, 2024.
Your bargaining team worked long hours to make sure your voice & issues were represented at the table. Thank you for your continued engagement and support as we begin this endeavour. Both sides will reconvene the week of October 30 to begin discussions on telework, and Inclusion, Equity, Diversity & Accessibility issues.
Please join us for a Virtual Town Hall meeting on October 26 at 19:00EST to let us know how those issues impact you at work; (watch for zoom information in an email next week). You can reach the bargaining Team anytime via cbcbargains2024@cmg.ca
