Guild seeks more information on CBC plan to sell transmission assets

Following Thursday’s announcement that CBC will seek proposals in November to buy assets related to the transmission of its TV and radio signals, the Guild asked for a high-level meeting to get more information.

The announcement states that “the CBC-owned assets which are being considered for sale are; land, towers, transmitter buildings, diesel gensets, broadband antennas with multiple users as well as the RCI Sackville Shortwave Facility.?Essentially any assets that generate revenue and/or can be shared by multiple users will be considered.?Assets not included in the potential sale are those that are for the exclusive use of CBC/Radio-Canada.”?

The announcement also says that no layoffs would result from a potential sale.

For more information, get in touch with the Guild (info@cmg.ca) at 416-591-5333 or 1-800-465-4149.
