In the coming days you will hear a lot about workload in your location.
As we all know, workload remains a pressing and important issue for many at the CBC. Our Collective Agreement contains strong language about workload. Stress and burnout leads to a considerable number of long-term disability claims at CBC. It’s in all our interests to talk honestly about the problem.
It’s also heartening to know that CBC management also considers workload a serious issue — and is committed to fostering a positive work/life balance.
Our hope is to both educate you about your rights — and encourage a dialogue about solving the problem of over work and burn out. Part of our efforts focus on trying to track workload, a key first step in addressing the problem. To that end, we are encouraging you to start logging your work with a tracking sheet you can download and print (http://www.cmg.ca/cbcworkloadlogEN.pdf ) or with an on-line work tracking tool here: https://www.toggl.com/ .
Remember: the first step to solving a workload issue is recognizing it. Start logging your workload today.
