Although the Canadian Media Guild and the CBC have reached an agreement around the salary bands in the new Job Evaluation process, there still remains work to be done.
The classifications that accompany the new bands are still being finalized. The Job Evaluation process saw many job descriptions from the old collective agreements combined; we are in the process of fine-tuning the details.
In the coming weeks every employee will be advised of where they are to be slotted on the new bands. Employees will have 60 days from the date of that notification to challenge their slotting if they choose to do so. The new bands do not come into effect until January 9, 2006.
In the meantime, as the result of an agreement between the Guild and the CBC, no employee will lose salary or pension benefits as a result of the introduction of the new Job Evaluation process. The negotiated across-the-board salary increases will be applied to existing salaries.
