National Grievance Communiqué for December 2015

The National Grievance Committee met with the CBC in December to address the grievances that were referred to the committee for resolution.

The committee dealt with outstanding issues from the past round of meetings and resolved six of those grievances.

The remaining grievances were held pending further discussion while the parties seek out more information.

The parties are running a Pilot Project to streamline the process and standardize the application of all Leave With-Out Pay requests. All indications are that it is working well, we are hoping to formalize the process within the next few months.

The committee dealt with grievances related to Medical absences, member’s rights under the workforce adjustment process and jurisdiction of work.

The committee once again looked at the issue of mandatory medical absence reports and continues discussions to resolve this issue. In the meantime the union’s position remains firm as per our communiqué of Jan 30, 2015.
