New collective agreement at CJRC radio in Gatineau

Canadian Media Guild members at CJRC, a private radio station in Gatineau, have ratified a new collective agreement. It is the first agreement reached at the station since employees chose to be represented by the CMG in 2007. The station was sold by Corus Qu?bec to Cogeco this year.

“This has been a very difficult year for employees in private radio and we are pleased that our members have an agreement without having to make concessions,” says CMG staff representative Gabriel Durocher, who led the negotiations for the union. “We are looking forward to building a productive relationship with Cogeco.”

The agreement provides a 2% wage increase for 2009 and 2% for 2010 to employees at the top of the wage scale. Employees who are not yet at the top of their wage scale will continue to get regular step increases as well as a $250 one-time bonus if they worked at least 300 hours in 2009.
