“Omnibus” grievance settled at TVO

We are happy to report that the grievance filed by the Canadian Media Guild regarding the 2005 layoffs at TVOntario has been resolved. With the assistance of arbitrator Paula Knopf, the Guild and the employer reached a settlement for each of the affected employees. The settlement is subject to a confidentiality agreement.

As we move into a new round of collective bargaining this fall, the Guild and TVOntario will have the opportunity to clarify contract language regarding the layoff process in order to prevent similar problems in the future.

For more information please contact TVO branch president Carol Burtin Fripp at cbf@tvo.org, or staff representatives Dan Oldfield (dan@cmg.ca) or Keith Maskell (keith@cmg.ca) at the Guild’s national office.
