Up to $1,000 available for employee wellness initiatives

The Workplace Wellness Fund (WWF) was jointly created by Unions at CBC/Radio-Canada and the Corporation to provide financial support for employee initiatives that improve general well-being: physical, psychological, social, financial or otherwise.

Typically, such an event might be a group social at a venue with a guest speaker. In this time of social distancing it could be a virtual get-together for meditation, fitness, a group webinar or workshop.

The Workplace Wellness Fund would cover expenses from $200 to $1,000, so long as the event is fully inclusive respecting CBC/Radio-Canada’s diversity and inclusion principles. There is also a requirement to fill out a post-event response form to help gauge the success of the initiative.

Disbursements from the WWF will be based on decisions made by the WWF sub-committee, which includes one CMG representative, one French union representative, one APS representative, and one representative from CBC/Radio-Canada management.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • -Must be inclusive and open to all employees, regardless of diverse background, language and affiliation;
  • -Must be accessible and mindful of employees with a disability;
  • -Should promote a healthy lifestyle (social, sport, well-being, educational, spiritual);
  • -Should be an initiative for which participation is voluntary;
  • -Expected to improve employees’ well-being;
  • -Must be in accordance with CBC/Radio-Canada policies;
  • -Applications for funding amounts of less than $200 will not be considered;
  • -Applications for funding amounts of more than $1,000 will be considered; however, if approved, the maximum amount of funding will be $1,000.
