A big thank you to everyone who attended the bargaining update meeting Friday.
Under the direction from the TVO Board, the management team came back to us with an offer that was less than what legislation allows, and they were unwilling to negotiate.
Because of that, the bargaining team has determined that we are too far apart on all of the issues to continue at the table, and that the best prospect for moving forward is with the help of the Ministry of Labour. We are asking for, and expect a conciliator to be appointed in the coming weeks.
The Canadian Media Guild (CMG) believes in free and fair negotiations, not bargaining through legislation. We have told the employer that if their mandate changes, we are ready and willing to return to the table.
We continue to put members’ rights and priorities at the forefront of our negotiations for a new collective agreement at TVO.
We will keep you updated on developments.
