Bargaining continues at the CBC

Negotiations between the Canadian Media Guild and the Corporation continued this past week as the parties await the appointment of a federal conciliator. The Corporation applied for the appointment earlier this week. The Minister of Labour has up to 15 days to make the assignment.

We have also been preparing documentation to ensure the conciliator has the most current proposals and fully understands the areas of dispute. In the meantime we have agreed to continue to meet and exchange language. We will meet again for three days next week.

The bargaining committee will be holding regular conference calls with location presidents in the coming days. Once the bargaining schedule has been established, committee members will be going to CBC locations across the country to attend local membership meetings and answer questions.

We told the Corporation that its request for conciliation has not altered our goal of achieving a fair collective agreement.
