Your bargaining committee met with VICE management last week and has been able to make additional progress on some fronts including Hours of Work and Overtime, as well as Hiring and Promotion language. While the number of outstanding issues is greatly reduced, there remain some significant areas of disagreement between the parties. We are hopeful that we can bridge these differences and have scheduled four bargaining dates over the next two weeks.
Also, this past Monday two members from the bargaining committee went to Montreal to speak with our colleagues at that location. The discussions were fruitful and any concerns that were identified by members there will be brought to VICE management.
What’s next?
As we enter this late stage of negotiations, our bargaining team will need member participation not only to keep everyone updated on the progress at the negotiation table, but also to get feedback on how to move forward.
We’ve set up a membership meeting so that we can update everyone in more detail about how negotiations have been going and next steps. If you can’t make it, let us know and we can find another way to keep you informed.
A conference call will be arranged for members in Montreal. We will poll members to find a time that works for most people and send call details in the coming week.
