Editorial unit members of the Canadian Media Guild at APTN voted yesterday to ratify their tentative agreement. The results are as follows:

Number of eligible voters: 24
Votes cast: 13 (54.2%)
Yes: 12 (92.3%)
No: 1 (7.7%)

The deal provides for an across-the-board salary increase of 2% each year over five years, beginning from April 24, 2006, as well as a $500 “retention incentive,” which will be paid to all employees as soon as possible. In addition, the two sides commit to begin work within 90 days on a plan to improve the workplace relationships, focusing on creating a culture of mutual respect, addressing workload concerns, improving training and professional development, and implementing a positive feedback process for performance reviews.
