The CMG negotiations committee at Corus is scheduled to meet with Corus management this week to begin talks for our first contract with the company.
Our objectives for the discussions are based on the results of the bargaining survey and membership meetings that were held in February.
You identified that the main priority for negotiations is equitable pay, with everyone receiving equal pay for equal work. Our number one bargaining priority will be to make sure that everyone is slotted into a salary scale based on their years of experience with Corus or Shaw.
Another priority is to integrate the policies that have worked for us in the past into a new collective agreement, including parking and midnight pay.
Our first full negotiation sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, March 29 and Thursday, March 30.
We will have regular updates about progress at the bargaining table, and members are encouraged to stay in touch with the bargaining team and share their questions, input and views throughout the negotiation process.
We are looking forward to negotiating a contract that will support us in our work and contribution to the continued success of Corus, one of Canada’s leading media companies.
