Strike vote for editorial employees at APTN

Your bargaining committee is asking for your support to reach a fair deal at APTN. Members of the Guild’s editorial/production unit at APTN will vote between 10am and 8pm Eastern Time on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 and from 10am to 5pm ET on Thursday, December 14, 2006. Voting will take place by phone. The Guild has designed a process to ensure the secrecy of the vote.

Here’s how to vote:

1. Call the national Guild office at 1-800-465-4149.
2. Ask to vote in the APTN strike vote; you will be transferred to the Guild’s membership co-oordinator, Elizabeth Northrop, to confirm your eligibility to vote.
3. Once you are confirmed as a voter, you will be transferred to another Guild employee who will not know your identity and you will be asked the ballot question.
4. Answer the ballot question. Your answer will be marked on a ballot, which will be placed in the ballot box.

Representatives from the CMG National Election Committee will count the ballots and report the results to the APTN Bargaining Committee for publication.

Voting is open only to Guild members in the Editorial/Production Unit.

The question on the ballot will be:

“Do you give your bargaining committee the mandate to take any legal action, including a strike, to achieve a fair contract?”

For more information, please contact the Guild (info@cmg.ca) at 1-800-465-4149.
