What to do about CBC management junk mail

You may have already returned the package you received in the mail this week from CBC management to the sender. If you would like to know how your Guild bargaining committee has dealt during negociations with the issues in the mailing, here are some details :

– our proposals have never been about placing unqualified people in jobs at the CBC. In the event of a downsizing or a program change, we want to make sure that the skills of people with experience in and commitment to public broadcasting are measured fairly so that they can remain employed if there is a job available at the CBC.

– our proposals continue to allow the Corporation to hire people on a temporary or contract basis to replace employees on leave, to gain specific knowledge or expertise in the short term (eg. a medical specialist for a medical show) or to help cover a major event.

You can review a comparison developed in July 2005 of key Guild and management proposals by going to http://www.cmg.ca/cbcnegscomparingproposals.pdf.

If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to return the package from management to its sender. You can simply mark it “return to sender” and put it back in the mail or bring it to your local picket line for a mass mailing.
