CMG welcomes the Ontario Superior Court’s decision which means that its members at TVO and TFO now have a chance at a fair, negotiated contract, especially following years of austerity. The union calls on the Ontario government to respect the court’s decision.
The employer claimed financial hardship in the last round of bargaining to deny meaningful wage increases to members. Yet management seems to suddenly have the cash flow needed to spend a quarter of a million dollars or more on arbitration hearings.
We continue to carry the message to APTN’s bargaining team that CMG members want to see a fair and progressive agreement that values the work our members do and also contributes to the wellness and work-life balance that our members deserve.
The five-year deal will improve the lives of staff, by offering immediate pay raises for almost all staff, a company-contributed pension plan, equipment and expense allowances, overtime compensation and annual pay increases of three per cent.
