Our union’s biennial national convention will be held from Friday, June 9 to Saturday, June 10 in Toronto.
Every two years, about 200 Canadian Media Guild (CMG) members from across the country get together to review CMG priorities, see what we can do better, and set our union’s direction for the next two years.
Look for more information on electing delegates and submitting resolutions for this year’s convention in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, to help set the focus of this year’s convention, please share your views on what you feel is important, by responding to this brief survey by Monday, February 6, 2023. Great prizes will be sent to the first 50 members who reply to the survey.
And here are a few things to keep in mind:
Automatic delegates
Members of Branch executives and Location Unit presidents are all automatic delegates to the convention, along with the CMG National executive committee members.
Additional delegates
The number of additional delegates for each Branch or Location Unit is determined by a formula based on membership – Specific numbers are available here.
The Branch or Location Unit is responsible for organizing an election to determine who shall receive credentials as voting delegates.
Each Location Unit may also send additional non-voting delegates (observers). Reach out to your local CMG executive if you would like to attend.
Proposing resolutions and bylaw amendments
Resolutions and amendments can deal with CMG policy or national bylaws. Click here to see current CMG bylaws and policies.
Any member in good standing can submit a resolution or bylaw amendment, whether or not you are attending the convention.
