2021 CMG VIRTUAL Convention: June 11 and 12

Like many organizations across Canada, the CMG has temporarily suspended travel due to the restraints of the COVID-19 pandemic. For that reason, we are holding our first virtual gathering for the CMG convention this summer. Typically, 200 members join union leaders at the convention to help review CMG practices and set priorities for the future.

This summer’s convention will be a series of online meetings spread over two days – Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12, 2021.

Look for more information on electing delegates and submitting resolutions soon.

In the meantime, here are some things to keep in mind:

Automatic delegates

Members of Branch executives and Location Unit presidents are all automatic delegates to the convention, along with the CMG National executive committee members.

Additional delegates

The number of additional delegates for each Branch or Location Unit is determined by a formula based on membership. Specific numbers are available here. The Branch or Location Unit is responsible for organizing an election to determine who shall receive credentials as voting delegates.

Each Location Unit may also send additional non-voting delegates (observers). Reach out to your local CMG executive if you would like to attend.

Proposing resolutions and bylaw amendments

Resolutions and amendments can deal with CMG policy or national bylaws. Click here to see current CMG bylaws and policies.

Any member in good standing can submit a resolution or bylaw amendment, whether or not you are attending the convention
