Dear CMG convention participants?:
Thanks to your hard work and dedication, we accomplished a lot during the CMG convention in Calgary last weekend. We considered a range of significant issues ? from election and removal of officers, to a motion calling on the CMG to take whatever steps necessary to reverse the closing of the CBC TV design department. Your national executive was directed to hire a staff representative from an equity-seeking group by the end of 2007 and to move to an accessible office by that time. We were also directed to double the dues remittances sent to small locations. These resolutions and so many of the speeches and events made the Guild a stronger and more cohesive union. I hope you also enjoyed yourselves, met some fellow members and learned something new!
I would like to formally thank so many people who helped make this convention happen. Michael Arnault, the president of the CBC location unit in Calgary, was a wonderful host and organized the creation of that restaurant guide to the city. Barbara Saxberg, as the national director of education, organized all those workshops. And you heard about the role of the staff ? primarily Glenn Seymour, Guylaine Morency, Margaret O’Sullivan and Sonya Sharma-Scott. They looked after every detail before the convention even got started. Our communications coordinator, Karen Wirsig, oversaw all the creation and translation of all the written materials.
Thank you all. You helped create a memorable event.
To help us improve the convention next time and make sure to repeat the elements that worked well, I hope you will take a few minutes to complete the evaluation at: http://www.cmg.ca/convention06evaluation.html.
Thank you,
Lise Lareau
