At the end of the nomination period, there were no candidates to fill the vacant position of Director of small branches on the CMG’s national executive committee. The period has been extended and we will continue to accept nominations until October 7.
The candidate must come from and be elected by members of branches with fewer than 200 members ? Thomson Reuters, TVO, TFO, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, S-Vox, CW Television and Private Radio (CJRC). The Director will serve as the voice of smaller branches and will ensure their interests are represented on the NEC and at the union as a whole. The incumbent is responsible for fostering and maintaining communication among the small branches. This could include, for example, organizing meetings or caucuses where small branch delegates could discuss issues related to creating a dynamic union presence in the workplace, keeping activists active, sharing leadership roles, outreach & advocacy, communications and other issues related to the union. There is a high degree of flexibility in setting the priorities of the position.
The director will serve to the end of the existing term, which is December 31, 2010.
It is possible to hold positions at the branch and national level simultaneously, but you can’t hold two positions at the same level.
