Be curious, think outside the box, read lots anddare to be different.

When you hit an obstacle, don’t give up.  Be persistent and be smart.

Rely on who you know, and get to know many people in the industry.

Don’t be shy to ask for help or to ask someone to be your mentor – most are more than happy to pass along what they know.

Always go the extra mile and be ready for that next opportunity. If something doesn’t make sense, ask more questions.

Be Determined, Be Brave, Be Yourself.
Don’t be afraid to move around. I’ve lived and worked in Winnipeg, Edmonton and Iqaluit. It has helped me tell Canadian stories with a greater sense of understanding.

Being a role model means doing the best job possible and helping others along the way.

If you have a dream, chase it until you reach
it. I always admired TV reporters when I was a kid, but I never thought I would
get there. Little did I know, if you put your heart into it, anything can
happen. Journalism has been a great revelation for me. Having to cover stories
on various topics and meeting different people gets you out of your comfort
zone and changes the way you envision the world. Curiosity and ambition will
get you far.
