Vous \u00eates constamment afflig\u00e9 par des probl\u00e8mes financiers et que l\u2019anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 et le stress font partie de votre quotidien. Soudainement, une grosse machine \u00e0 imprimer de l\u2019argent arrive dans le paysage avec des offres d\u2019emploi et des promesses d\u2019une vie meilleure. En apparence, elle semble \u00eatre un ami des pauvres. Cette firme embauche les parents seuls, les ouvriers non sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s, les d\u00e9crocheurs scolaires et les \u00e9tudiants. Bref, un personnel form\u00e9 de gens d\u00e9favoris\u00e9s et d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9s qui ont de grandes attentes.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019euphorie ne dure pas. La confusion s\u2019installe. Vous avez beau travailler, vous \u00eates quand m\u00eame fauch\u00e9. Vous voudriez travailler \u00e0 plein temps, mais ce n\u2019est pas possible. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 embauche plut\u00f4t d\u2019autres employ\u00e9s \u00e0 temps partiel. <\/p>\n<p>Vous ne pouvez pas vous faire d\u2019amis au travail. La direction d\u00e9courage cette pratique. Vous ne connaissez m\u00eame pas le nom de famille de vos coll\u00e8gues. \u00c7a serait s\u00e9ditieux. Le personnel change \u00e0 une allure vertigineuse. Vous vous sentez isol\u00e9, mais vous n\u2019osez pas vous plaindre. Lorsque vous dites \u00e0 un coll\u00e8gue que vous vous sentez \u00e9puis\u00e9 et confus, il dispara\u00eet. Vous ne pouvez pas d\u00e9voiler \u00e0 vos coll\u00e8gues votre nom de famille, votre salaire, vos espoirs, vos attentes et les probl\u00e8mes qui affligent votre milieu de travail. Vous n\u2019osez m\u00eame pas aller fumer une cigarette car on pourrait vous traiter d\u2019agitateur, vous trouver trop amical ou trop curieux. Dans la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 selon Wal-Mart, le seul fait de soulever un probl\u00e8me est un acte de haute trahison. C\u2019est vouloir syndiquer ses coll\u00e8gues et une raison pour se faire renvoyer. <\/p>\n<p>Pendant que vous en faites un cas de conscience, vous avez de la peine \u00e0 croire que le travail de votre patron est d\u2019\u00e9craser les employ\u00e9s qui s\u2019assemblent. Les superviseurs doivent se montrer hostile envers le syndicalisme, sinon ils perdront leur emploi.<\/p>\n<p>Pendant que vous gagnez un salaire de cr\u00e8ve faim, vous apprenez que votre voisin ne va gu\u00e8re mieux. Car lorsque Wal-Mart cr\u00e9e deux emplois dans la communaut\u00e9, trois autres emplois disparaissent car ses concurrents mordent la poussi\u00e8re. Des statistiques impressionnantes pour un g\u00e9ant du commerce au d\u00e9tail qui a plus d\u2019un million cinq cent mille employ\u00e9s, un budget plus important que celui de plusieurs pays et plus d\u2019influence \u00e9conomique que quiconque dans sa sph\u00e8re d\u2019activit\u00e9s aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Wal-Mart surpasse m\u00eame General Electric et General Motors. C\u2019est donc Wal-Mart qui dicte les r\u00e8gles du march\u00e9. Il est inqui\u00e9tant de constater que son tout dernier projet est de convaincre ses employ\u00e9s am\u00e9ricains de d\u00e9bourser eux-m\u00eames pour leurs assurances m\u00e9dicales. Ce n\u2019est qu\u2019une question de temps avant que cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9 ram\u00e8ne des millions de travailleurs aux conditions d\u2019il y a 30 ans. <\/p>\n<p>Soudainement vous r\u00e9alisez, comme je l\u2019ai fait en novembre lors de la conf\u00e9rence intitul\u00e9e: \u201c La pertinence des syndicats dans le cadre de la Nouvelle \u00e9conomie\u201d, le courage dont a fait preuve le personnel des magasins Wal-Mart au Canada qui ont surmont\u00e9 leur peur et milit\u00e9 pour le changement. Au lieu d\u2019accepter que le personnel d\u2019un de ses magasins soit syndiqu\u00e9, Wal-Mart a ferm\u00e9, en guise de repr\u00e9sailles, son magasin de Jonqui\u00e8re et menace de faire la m\u00eame chose ailleurs. Vous dites quoi  ? Payer des salaires raisonnables ?
