Ces r\u00e9sultats, bas\u00e9s sur un sondage effectu\u00e9 en 2005 aupr\u00e8s de Canadiens, r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que ceux qui travaillent le jour ont plus de chance d\u2019\u00eatre satisfaits de leur conciliation travail-famille.<\/p>\n<p>Il n\u2019est pas surprenant que les employ\u00e9s qui sont le moins satisfaits sont ceux qui ont le moins de contr\u00f4le sur leur horaire de travail, notamment ceux qui travaillent des postes fractionn\u00e9s ou des quarts de travail irr\u00e9guliers ou encore ceux qui travaillent sur appel ou de fa\u00e7on occasionnelle. (Vous pouvez lire le rapport complet en cliquant sur <u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.statcan.ca\/francais\/freepub\/75-001-XIF\/2008108\/article\/10677-fr.htm\">www.statcan.ca\/francais\/freepub\/75-001-XIF\/2008108\/article\/10677-fr.htm<\/a><\/u>)<\/p>\n<p>Le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne du travail par quarts prend son essor, au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, au sein des lieux de travail des membres de la Guilde canadienne des m\u00e9dias. Dans la plupart des cas, les conventions collectives n\u00e9goci\u00e9es par la GCM ne permettent pas l\u2019existence de postes fractionn\u00e9s et nous avons tent\u00e9 d\u2019interdire les clauses qui permettent la cr\u00e9ation de postes sur appel. Mais nos membres travaillent dans des organisations qui fonctionnent 24 heures sur 24, 7 jours par semaine, la nuit, le soir et les fins de semaine. <\/p>\n<p>Il semble \u00e9vident que le travail par quarts est une pratique qui est l\u00e0 pour rester. L\u2019ergonomiste Jonathan Tyson a \u00e9crit en 2002 dans le bulletin de la sant\u00e9 et de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 au travail de l\u2019Association des p\u00e2tes et papiers : \u00ab on pourrait croire qu\u2019apr\u00e8s des centaines d\u2019ann\u00e9es d\u2019exp\u00e9rience, on aurait soit trouv\u00e9 des solutions aux probl\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9 et de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 caus\u00e9s par le travail par quarts soit qu\u2019on en serait venu \u00e0 la conclusion qu\u2019il faut abandonner ce mode de travail parce qu\u2019il est n\u00e9faste. Malheureusement, ni l\u2019un ni l\u2019autre ne s\u2019est produit. \u00bb <\/p>\n<p>Le sommeil est la principale pr\u00e9occupation car les \u00eatres humains ont tendance \u00e0 vouloir dormir lorsqu\u2019il fait sombre et \u00eatre actif lorsqu\u2019il fait clair. Des experts en mati\u00e8re de sommeil donnent des conseils aux superviseurs et aux employ\u00e9s sur la mani\u00e8re de s\u2019ajuster aux quarts de travail du soir et de la nuit. Entre autres conseils du genre \u00ab manger une pomme par jour \u00bb, on sugg\u00e8re aux employ\u00e9s de ne pas fumer, de participer \u00e0 des programmes de bien-\u00eatre, de faire de l\u2019exercice et d\u2019\u00e9viter les heures suppl\u00e9mentaires.<\/p>\n<p>Mais un sentiment de contr\u00f4le est aussi important pour le bien-\u00eatre des gens. C\u2019est pour cette raison que le syndicat des infirmi\u00e8res de la Colombie-Britannique a n\u00e9goci\u00e9 \u00ab l\u2019affectation personnalis\u00e9e des quarts de travail \u00bb qui permet aux infirmi\u00e8res d\u2019\u00e9tablir leur propre horaire afin de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 leurs besoin et \u00e0 ceux de leur employeur.<\/p>\n<p>En fait, certains employ\u00e9s pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent travailler le soir ou la nuit, comme des femmes qui sont cheffes de famille.  Il n\u2019est pas aussi rare que l\u2019on pense de d\u00e9velopper des horaires de travail qui tiennent compte des besoins des employ\u00e9s. Le fait de participer \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9laboration de l\u2019horaire de travail procure un sentiment de contr\u00f4le qui manque cruellement lorsque les horaires sont impos\u00e9s par le haut de la hi\u00e9rarchie.<\/p>\n<p>Les membres de la GCM qui travaillent au diffuseur S-VOX viennent tout juste de n\u00e9gocier un nouveau r\u00e9gime d\u2019affectation pour la r\u00e9gie centrale. Ce r\u00e9gime a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9labor\u00e9 par les membres afin de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 leurs besoins \u00e0 la suite d\u2019une annonce de la direction qui imposait des changements aux quarts de travail ce qui ne plaisaient pas aux employ\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab C\u2019est exactement le genre de chose que le syndicat peut faire pour aider les employ\u00e9s \u00e0 reprendre le contr\u00f4le de leur quotidien \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le pr\u00e9sident de la sous-section de S-VOX \u00e0 la GCM, Rob VanSickle. \u00ab Nous accomplissons le travail sur une base quotidienne.
