Apply for a CBC/Radio-Canada Branch National Union Committee

Are you interested in having an active role in how the union handles issues at work?  Consider getting more involved in a joint union-management committee.

We have two new committees that were created during the last round of bargaining, as well as vacant seats on some other national committees left by recent retirements.  Most meetings will be virtual, but there may be some in person for CCSB & NGC.  Here are the union committees that we need to fill seats on…

Workday Joint Working Group – Monthly meetings with relevant managers for at least the next year, to identify and prioritize issues of concern regarding the Workday system.

National Temp Committee – A new committee mandated to provide expert guidance and consultation to Local Joint Committees or Local Temporary Committees (as applicable) to help facilitate problem-solving and creative solutions regarding members of our temporary workforce.

Consultative Committee on Staff Benefits (CCSB) –  Joint committee with all CBC-RC unions, Pensioners & unaffiliated/ management representatives, which oversees our benefit and pension plans.

National Grievance Committee (NGC) – Handles grievances referred to the national level. It’s where we really put the collective agreement to the test. This committee handles policy grievances and formal complaints not resolved at the local level.  It requires strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

National Joint Employment Committee – When local workforce adjustment committees cannot agree or require guidance, this committee responds.  Experience with our system for handling redundancies and layoffs is required.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 21 at midnight.   Please fill in this form to let us know a little more about why you would like to join the committee. If you currently sit on one of these committees, you do not need to re-apply.  Click here to review the branch policy on committees.

In Solidarity,
