Members of the APTN Branch of the Canadian Media Guild congratulate the company on the successful coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Following up on the concerns we expressed a few days ago, we have had assurances from Jean LaRose, Chief Executive Officer of APTN that the collective agreement will be followed. Employees who have been temporarily assigned or seconded to different functions will be eligible for upgrades where applicable, and temporary/contract employees will be treated on an equal footing with regular staff.
“We wanted to make sure that everyone was being treated fairly, and it looks like that will happen,” said branch vice-president Bruce Spence.
If you’re an APTN employee and experience any problems in the field, please contact the CMG so we can investigate and take any necessary action. We want to make sure that everyone’s rights under the Collective Agreement are being respected.
“We’re all going to keep working hard on these games,” said Spence. “Success for APTN means success for all of us.”
