The Canadian Media Guild is pleased to announce the appointment of Terri Monture as Staff Representative. Her primary responsibility will be to promote equity and human rights at all of our employers and within the Guild.
“We received an unprecedented number of applications for this job and I was immediately impressed by the passion that Terri expresses about doing human rights and union work, a passion she told us is rooted in her Mohawk heritage,” explains CMG president Lise Lareau. “Please join me in welcoming her to the Guild.”
Terri comes to the Guild from Toronto’s Now Magazine, where she has been active in her union, the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union. She has been the CEP unit chair at Now, and also sat on the national executive and on the national human rights committee.
The position was posted earlier this year after being created according to a resolution passed at the Guild’s 2006 convention. Funding for the position is being shared with our Canadian parent union, CWA Canada.
Terri will begin work with the Guild on June 15. You will be able to reach her at the national office by calling 416-591-5333 or 1-800-465-4149.
