CMG seeks applicants for union rep training program?

Have you considered doing union representation work as a career??The Canadian Media Guild is seeking applicants from among the membership for a six-month developmental position with the union.??

The successful candidate will spend six months in the Guild’s national office in Toronto, ideally beginning in March or April 2011. The start date is somewhat negotiable.?He or she will?spend a substantial period of time filling in for the union services coordinator,?where they will gain?experience in?advising members on their collective agreement and other rights.?He or she will also receive training in the functions of CMG staff representative, including resolving disputes, supporting the Guild’s elected leadership, helping to mobilize members and negotiating collective agreements.

The position is intended to assist the Guild in succession planning and could lead to a full-time staff rep position in the future.?Candidates must be able to function in both French and English and should have experience as a union volunteer.?The Guild encourages applications from women, Aboriginal peoples, visible minorities, people with disabilities, and persons of all sexual orientation and gender identity.
