The Canadian Media Guild (CMG) has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to co-ordinate our campaign for public broadcasting. We are seeking an energetic, self-motivated person to carry out the campaign to increase public and political support for the CBC and public broadcasting in Canada. This is a 12-month contract.
Under the direction of the CMG President and with the support of CMG activists and staff, the successful applicant will oversee the day-to-day activities of the campaign, including organizing events, producing campaign materials, engaging CMG members, liaising with other groups, booking advertising, and co-ordinating the online campaign.
The Guild represents nearly 6,000 members across Canada, including employees at CBC, The Canadian Press, Thomson Reuters and the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, TVO, TFO, Shaw Media, ZoomerMedia, AFP, Private Radio, as well as media freelancers. Find out more at www.cmg.ca.
Excellent communication, social media and interpersonal skills are required, along with experience in organizing events or campaigns. Previous experience working on a political or advocacy campaign is an asset, as is being bilingual. CMG members are encouraged to apply – the Guild can work with you to arrange leave from your job.
