Final step of 10-year union dues adjustment completed in 2020

The final step of a long-term plan to lift the cap on CMG union dues has come into effect as of January 2020.

Over 10 years ago, delegates at a CMG convention voted to drop a cap that limited the amount of dues paid by members.

The cap was initially set to limit the union dues that high earners paid.

A resolution passed at the CMG convention to increase the limit over ten years, phasing out the dues cap by January 2020.

The plan ended this year, meaning any member who earns more than $154,000 a year will for the first time, pay CMG dues of 1.55% on the full amount.

See details of the cap phase-out in article 14 of the CMG Bylaws.
