The memorandum of settlement between the Guild and Shaw Media is now available.
Every member of the bargaining unit will have a chance to vote on whether to accept the deal on Monday June 23. We will hold membership meetings that day at 12 noon and 5 pm in St. Andrew’s Church (Grosvener Room, Second floor) so that members can ask questions and get any information you need before you vote.
** We need a volunteer who was not on the bargaining committee to scrutineer the vote. If you are available between 12 noon and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. on Monday and would like to help us make sure of a fair vote, please write to Terri Monture (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible.**
The ballot box will be open from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Grosvener Room and members of the bargaining committee will be on hand at the church during the entire time to answer questions and provide information so feel free to drop in between the two meetings if that timing works better for you.
For members who have told us they are on leave, we are arranging an alternate way to vote on Monday and will confirm those details shortly. If you won’t be around on Monday and haven’t told a member of the bargaining committee yet, please write to email@example.com as soon as possible so that alternate arrangements can be made for you.
The Guild bargaining committee is unanimously recommending acceptance of the agreement. The new salary groups and scales will help close the gap between members who currently earn different amounts but perform similar work. Getting to a fairer salary structure was a major objective of this round of bargaining. Every member, whether you fall within the new scales or not, will get wage increases of at least 1.5% in 2014, 1.75% in 2015 and 1.75% in 2016. We are also pleased to add three new holidays and real chiropractic benefits.
