Guild announces staffing changes

I am pleased to announce that Jeanne d’Arc Umurungi has joined the Canadian Media Guild as the new communications director. Jeanne d’Arc is fully bilingual and comes to us with more than 10 years of communications experience in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors and has spent many years in community radio. She is committed to social justice and is looking forward to helping enhance strategic communications at the Guild among members and with the public at large.

Jeanne d’Arc is replacing Karen Wirsig, who has taken on a new one-year role at the Guild as staff representative for organizing and mobilizing. Karen, who has led communications and advocacy at the Guild since 2005, is now responsible for developing strategies to increase member involvement in the Guild and to grow the union among workers in media-related jobs. She is looking forward to working with Guild members to build the Guild’s presence in our existing workplaces and to grow our membership in the industry.

You can reach Jeanne d’Arc at jeannedarc@cmg.ca or by phone at the national office at  416-591-5333 (or 1-800-465-4149), ext. 243. You can reach Karen at karen@cmg.ca , by cell at 416-578-1651, or at the national office, ext. 222.
