We are headed back into negotiations with Shaw management this week and we thought it was a good time to check in with you about the talks. We are planning two membership meetings for this Thursday, March 27: 12 noon to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Exact location to be confirmed later this week, but both meetings will be within easy reach of Shaw. Lunch will be served at both.
So far, your Guild committee has proposed a couple of new provisions for the agreement to help you better manage the balance between work and life outside of work. One proposal seeks to introduce a process for “alternate work arrangements,” such as job sharing, compressed work weeks and work from home. We have also proposed a new “Vacation purchase plan” to allow members to pre-pay for an additional week of vacation.
This week, we plan to put forward our monetary proposals. We also expect to discuss sick leave and how the work of our bargaining unit fits with other work being done in the building.
We hope to see you Thursday! In the meantime, don’t hesitate to get in touch with any one of us if you have any questions or comments.
