Guild seeks Union Services Co-ordinator

Here’s an opportunity to join an energetic, growing part of Canada’s media labour scene, work directly with members and help shape and define a newly created position.

The Canadian Media Guild is a national union representing employees at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Canadian Press/Broadcast News, TVOntario, Reuters, the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, S-VOX, Sun TV and Alliance Atlantis Communications.

The Union services co-ordinator will be located in our Toronto head office and, under the guidance of senior staff, handle preliminary queries from CMG members concerning workplace issues. He/she shall be knowledgeable enough to answer simple questions directly and be able to determine whether an issue should be referred to someone else. Record keeping is an important part of the job. We anticipate the successful candidate will develop and advance within the organization.

We are looking for someone who has:
? General experience as a union activist at some level and knowledge of contract language and how it works
? Knowledge of CMG collective agreements in particular would be an asset.
? Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing in both English and French.
This position is included in an agreement between CMG and its staff union. The compensation package includes benefits and a bilingual premium.
The Canadian Media Guild is committed to principles of equity and diversity in the workplace.
Please send your resume to: Hiring Committee at guild@interlog.com by Monday June 5, 2006. Interviews will take place during the week of June 12.
