Canadian postal workers have been participating in rotating strikes for nearly a week to fight for a fair collective agreement. The workers are seeking ongoing jobs instead of temp jobs and to maintain a single-tier pay structure. They have rejected Canada Post management’s bid to pay new employees much lower rates than existing employees, which would create a new class of low-wage workers and undermine solidarity among the employees. The Canadian Media Guild supports their struggle.
If postal workers call a strike in the city you live in, we urge you to avoid crossing picket lines and to show your support in any way possible. The more support striking workers have, the better the chances of achieving a fair deal quickly.
