It is a pleasure to announce that Jean Broughton was selected as the Western Region staff representative primarily responsible for representing Guild members in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. She will be based in Vancouver and begin her duties on July 25, 2012.

Jean has worked at the Canadian Media Guild for five years, and before that was an activist in CUPE. She has served in many capacities over her time as a trade unionist, from shop steward to temporary Guild staff representative in 2011. She sat on the CBC national grievance committee for a number of years, and recent assignments include the CBC Toronto Local Joint Employment Committee, Staff Rep for SRC Toronto, mobilizing for Canadian Press bargaining, and organizing non-union freelancers.
