Fingers crossed for a win in Wisconsin to replace Governor Scott Walker. In a state of only 5 million people, 900,000 signatures on a recall petition made a huge statement. Walker is arguably the most anti-labour governor in the US (or at least the most unapologetic). If he wins in today’s recall election, his strategy of disregarding unions and stripping public workers of collective bargaining rights may become accepted strategy for other Republicans. The outcome will be a benchmark for labour in the future. Candidates and outside groups have spent $63.5 million onthe campaign already, with most of the money going to the Walker campaign. Keep your fingers crossed (and call anyone you know in Wisconsin).
