We are not the only Candians surprised by heritage Minister James Moore’s flip flop on support for the national public broadcaster. Less than a year ago he said the feds would “maintain or increase support for the CBC”. But this week’s budget cuts come with a hefty 10% cut (significantly higher than the 6.9 across-the-board cut). He also said “the CBC is the infrastructure around which Canadian arts and culture is built. It is central, it is key.” We agree. But with a $115 million dollars less over 3 years, that service will be drastically affected. How is that protecting a “key” Canadian service?
