Tentative agreement with CBC/Radio-Canada and next steps

Late Friday, we reached a tentative agreement with the Corporation for a five-year deal beginning April 1, 2019. As per CMG policy, we are reporting first to the CMG executive and location unit presidents early this week and plan to have highlights of the deal to members this Thursday, February 21.  A full information package on the agreement will be available in both English and French next week.

All members will have a chance to vote on the agreement before it is final. We are now putting together the ratification package, including all of the changes to the collective agreement and explanations of the changes, and are organizing membership meetings where you can ask questions of the bargaining committee. The meetings will take place in March and the ratification vote will be held before the end of March.  Stay tuned for the meeting dates in your location.

The agreement follows months of discussions with CBC on issues including temporary and precarious employment, scheduling and wellbeing of employees, Northern benefits, and compensation.

We were encouraged by members’ interest and participation throughout the process and are looking forward to meeting with you in the weeks ahead.
