A personal invitation to march in the Labour Day Parade
•  Posted on  August 31, 2014

We’ve been through one of the most distressing times in CBC history over the past several months. More than 200 jobs cut here in Toronto, less money for us to keep CBC running, and an uncertain future that likely holds more cuts. We may feel battered but we’re not down for the count. Together, we can support each other and stand up for ourselves.
Whether you are directly affected by the job cuts that were announced in April, or are struggling to continue on in a steadily dwindling workplace, one of the most powerful ways we can show our strength is by participating in Labour Day activities. We represent a strong voice of advocacy to save the CBC, and by standing proudly with our co-workers we show that the people who make CBC are ready to defend it.
If you are one of our members who has been directly impacted by the redundancies, I encourage you to come so you can see the overwhelming support from your fellow marchers for the bravery and grace you’ve demonstrated throughout this process.
Please join us this coming Monday, September 1 at 10:00 a.m., near the corner of Armoury and University, one block south of Dundas (St. Patrick TTC station). Family and friends are welcome to come with you, and all marchers will get into the CNE for free that day. Guild members will also receive free tickets for food and midway rides.
If you’ve never joined your colleagues in the Labour Day Parade, this is definitely the year to participate.
I hope you’ll consider coming and I look forward to seeing you there.
