The CBC Toronto Local Executive Committee of the Canadian Media Guild would like to express its shock and dismay at Monday’s announcement by CBC that it is outsourcing its weather coverage to Pelmorex/The Weather Network.

This represents a piece by piece dismantling of the services that CBC provides starting with Hockey Night In Canada, The Documentary Unit and now The CBC News Weather Centre.

Under Article 47 of the Collective Agreement the Union may present an alternative proposal to the contracting out. We have until the end of the month to consider this agreement and will be studying it closely.
