10 a.m. Opened meeting with update from Marc Phillip Laurent.

\n2.\tSecretary\u2019s Update: Adopt Minutes of Mar 27th, 2014 meeting as amended. Moved by Elaine Janes CARRIED <\/p>\n
3.\tTreasurer\u2019s Report: Anita Adams presented revised budget
\nIN CAMERA
\nMOTION: That the LEC dedicate funds in the budget to subsidise the LEC President for up to 10 days releases this calendar year. Moved By Kam Rao Seconded: Elaine Janes.

Motion: That the LEC adopt the revised budget for 2014. Moved: Kim Taylor-Galway. Seconded: Tamir Kojfman. Carried unanimously.<\/p>\n
4.\tDirector\u2019s Committee reports:
\n\u2022\tPresident once again asked that Committee and Stewards reports be submitted in writing prior to the meeting.
\n\u2022\tCommunications: Kam Rao presented update of sub-committee activities in Colman Jones\u2019s absence. Spoke of meeting and launch of new YouTube station with Presidents first report already on line.
\n\u2022\tHuman Rights \u2013 Kam Rao Wonders if we monitor how diversity at CBC is affected by the cuts and if anyone monitors it.
\n\u2022\tCare Committee \u2013 Jordanna Lake
\n\u2022\tSRC update – Claryse Boulineau
\n\u2022\tHealth and Safety – Glen Guerin \u2013updated progress on makeup room air quality and moth situation. Kam raised problem with elevator safety in that on several occasions someone has been trapped. Glen said they were aware of it. Future elevator issues should be sent to Glen to follow up on.
\n\u2022\tNew Members \u2013 Kim Taylor-Galway
\n\u2022\tMobilisation update – Maureen Brosnahan (absent) On behalf of Maureen the President reminded the LEC that training can be provided by Barbara Saxberg<\/p>\n
5.\tChief Stewards reports:
\n\u2022\tTamir Kojfman raised a steady cam issue
\n\u2022\tRob Barlow updated us on several cases he is working on<\/p>\n
6.\tPreparation for upcoming redundancies: see updates from MPL and Dan.
\n*Set date for Lunch training session with Dan Oldfield re Workforce Adjustment for Thursday April 24th at 1-2pm. <\/p>\n
7.\tLJEC training is set for Wednesday, April 16th from 12-4pm
\n\u2022\tElaine Janes proposed that we train up the other two alternate LJEC members and ask CBC to enlarge the LJEC committee due to the increased work load with the Workforce adjustment and the pending job losses of 500 plus. President said she would broach the subject.
\n\u2022\tAnd a reminder that the LEC Vote for the Chief Stewards position is on April 24th <\/p>\n
8.\tNew Business :
\n-We are having a table on Tuesday 15TH 12-2 Volunteers to attend.
\n-Agenda and meeting management\/Elaine Janes
\nFeels the Agendas are too full. Suggestion that the Agenda have set time slots and lunch and breaks are essential. Also Director\u2019s get 10 minutes to present their material. 5 Minutes for other reports. Discussed starting earlier. 9:30 includes one hour meal. <\/p>\n

9.\tPresident\u2019s Position
\n\u2022\tDiscussion regards involvement of President as Chair voting in the meeting.
\nJordanna has taken the chair so the president can speak.
\nElaine pointed out that the President does not vote or pass motions on her committees. Roberts Rules is the book of historical order. Suggested that we check the bi-laws. That points to another rule book. Naomi to check to see of the other rule book still stands. Naomi feels the rules never intended to stop the President from speaking. <\/p>\n
