Meeting Commenced 9:30am<br \/>\nApproved by vote as amended.<\/p>\n<p>PRESENT: Naomi Robinson, Elaine Janes, Tony Germin, Christina Sorensen, Elaine Janes, Claryse Boulineau, Maureen Brosnahan, Riza Kaya, Kim Taylor Galway, Kam Rao, Anita Adams.<br \/>\nConference call: Jordanna Lake,<br \/>\nAbsent: Rob Barlow (Steward), Glen Guerin 12:03<\/p>\n<p>1. Adopt Agenda &#8211; as amended<br \/>\n2. Approval of Minutes October 23, 2014 as amended.<br \/>\nMOTION TO APPROVE Minutes of Oct 23, 2014 as amended. CARRIED <\/p>\n<p>Officer\u2019s Reports:<br \/>\n3. PRESIDENT\u2019S REPORT: Naomi Robinson (see separate written report)<br \/>\nUpdate On Cuts and LJEC<br \/>\nDiscussion of Library archive jobs.<br \/>\nLJEC discussion: MOTION: Jonathan Spence moves the committee moves in camera to deal with confidential material. Seconded Elaine Janes. Carries. Committee Moves In Camera.<br \/>\nCommittee out of camera at 11:24.<\/p>\n<p>MOTION: Be it resolved that the LEC remove a standing member from the LJEC<br \/>\nMoved: Jonathan Spence. Seconded Anita Adams<br \/>\nVote: 9 in favour, 1 opposed, 2 Abstentions  MOTION CARRIES<\/p>\n<p>MOTION: That it be moved that the LEC instruct the LJEC to request management to allow the member in question to write the Band 6 test as per his\/her rights under the Collective Agreement.<br \/>\nMoved: Jonathan Spence. Seconded: Elaine Janes<br \/>\nVote: 11 in favour, 0 Opposed, 1 abstention. MOTION CARRIES<\/p>\n<p>4. VICE PRESIDENTS REPORT: Elaine Janes.<br \/>\nP\/t and F\/t employees issues<br \/>\nSpeaking at new members meeting<br \/>\nSRC update and Grievance<br \/>\nRemember Grievance is a right<\/p>\n<p>5. SECRETARY\u2019S REPORT: Jordanna Lake<br \/>\nSecretary updated committee on the email response from Rob Renaud to LEC request that SRC be reinstated immediately. Claryse Boulineau was asked to translate from French.<br \/>\nUpdated the committee on the CBC\u2019s announcement for outsourcing Weather and a sub committee was formed to put together a Grievance. Sub-Committee: Jordanna, Elaine Janes, Jonathan Spence, Kam Rao and Chantel in Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p>6. FINANCE REPORT\/BUDGET APPROVAL: Anita Adams will send updated budget after the meeting.<\/p>\n<p> COMMITTEE REPORTS:<br \/>\n7. New Members: Kim Taylor-Galway<br \/>\nOrganising a New members meeting for Nov 6 in Artist\u2019s Lounge includes speakers<br \/>\n8. Communications: Colman Jones<br \/>\n9. Mobilisation &#8211; Maureen Brosnahan<br \/>\nupdate on Mobilization table on Nov 13.<br \/>\nFriday Dec 12th Christmas Breakfast 5-9am in newsroom. Kim Taylor-Galway volunteered to assist<br \/>\nBudget: Maureen Brosnahan to confirm budget $1000 out of Holiday Party total.<br \/>\nwill confirm date with Andrew Ferguson on Morning show.<br \/>\nMaureen suggested a training day for stewards and new stewards\u2026need an education training day which encompasses harassment. Naomi said she was dealing with Stewardship Dec 3 at noon. Jonathan and Naomi to get back to Maureen after that meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Stewards reports:<br \/>\nJonathan Spence -Education &#8211; training on dealing with harassment &#8211; no tolerance. Will be sending out a list of behaviours that can be considered Sexual Harassment.<br \/>\nJan 22 Lancaster House talk on SH. Invite as many people as poss. Maureen Brosnahan recommended it be done in the Conference Centre.<br \/>\nRespect in the Workplace: Maureen Brosnahan recommend it be suspended until it gets a rework.<\/p>\n<p>MOTION Be it resolved that the LEC agrees to pay the cost for joining Lancaster House Seminar on Sexual Harassment in the Work Place on February 12, 2015. Approximate cost $235 plus tax.<br \/>\nMotion: Jonathan Spence Seconder:                  Vote: Unanimous carried.<\/p>\n<p>Kam Rao proposed a meeting set up as a workshop for advocacy Action Plan \u201cWhat is our path forward.\u201d Kam, Jonathan, and Maureen to look into it<br \/>\nElaine Janes proposed a one day training event set up for our members on the LEC as per our bi-laws and invite members of the relevant committees like workforce and grievance to attend as a refresher on dealing with members issues. Jonathan says there are materials to do that.<br \/>\n14:17 Jonathan Spence has left the meeting<\/p>\n<p>10. Human Rights and Advocacy &#8211; Kam Rao<br \/>\nspoke to need for joint Sexual Harassment task force btw CMG and CBC.<br \/>\nKam has been named Campaign Coordinator for the CBC Campaign<br \/>\nJan 15th  Budget campaign ahead February Federal Budget.<br \/>\nMar 9th National Arts Centre, Ottawa<br \/>\nAdvocacy for CBC &#8211; including April 10th one year anniversary of CBC cuts &#8211; National member campaign wear black, wear buttons etc. Sat 11th public event engage Fed candidates<br \/>\nDevelop our own momentum and our own timeline<br \/>\nCMG in process of identifying key ridings in next election to lobby candidates<\/p>\n<p>11. Care Committee update &#8211; Anita Adams<br \/>\n12. Health and Safety &#8211; Glen Guerin &#8211; orange elevators are going to be made non CBC<br \/>\nInformed that the wheel chair access doors are not working on John Street<br \/>\nTony Germin raised issue with locking main doors and locking out members<br \/>\nElaine Janes asked Glen for other incidence of workplace Harassment issues that may have come up in H&#038;S. Glen will send details of the shower room problems from 6th floor.<br \/>\nKim Taylor-Galway expressed concern about Security not able to leave their desk<\/p>\n<p> 13. SRC Claryse Boulineau: Issue with SRC management. Policy Grievance has been filed.<br \/>\n1530 \u2013 MOTION: The Meeting is in Camera<br \/>\n1608 \u2013 MOTION:  Meeting comes out of Camera<br \/>\nElaine Janes requests we add an item to our January agenda called \u201cworking together\u201d where we brainstorm ideas to make a better working relationship with Staff office.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Stewards Reports<br \/>\n14. Tony Germin \u2013 work continues with members.<br \/>\n16. Rob Barlow &#8211; absent<br \/>\nKam Rao asked about when we were getting the new Collective Agreements printed. Naomi to check with National Office.<\/p>\n<p>17. Business Carried Over:<br \/>\nNaomi Robinson formed Steward subcommittee to look at Stewards\u2019 network<\/p>\n<p>18. Christmas party update:  Jordanna Lake: Thanks to Rob Ballantyne who has done a great poster. Naomi emails to members. Naomi says there will not be a meeting on day of party but arrive early to set up. Releases are in. There will be a brief sub-committee meeting to organize assignments on the day.<br \/>\nElaine Janes reopened discussion of drinks tickets. Jordanna Lake explained the reasons for the decision made at the previous meeting from which Elaine was absent.<br \/>\nChristmas Party Sub-committee to investigate second tickets from National President<\/p>\n<p>19. New Business<br \/>\nElaine Janes has moved her items to January<br \/>\nKam Rao has moved her item to January<br \/>\nNaomi Robinson has removed her item on building on Nov 16 March which is being addressed by Advocacy<\/p>\n<p>20. Committee Selection: Naomi Robinson 4 applications<br \/>\nMOTION  Be is resolved that the LEC accept all four applicants to temp, workload and LJEC committees.<br \/>\nMoved: Maureen Brosnahan. Seconded: Elaine Janes. Carried with one abstention.<\/p>\n<p>21. Next Meeting:  January 20th, 2015<\/p>\n<p>22.
