Note to all Canadian Media Guild Elected Representatives,<\/p>\n
The Toronto Location Unit of the CBC Branch of the Canadian Media Guild represents about 2000 members or half of the total CMG membership.\u00a0 In light of recent events the Toronto Location Executive Committee is declaring its support for the elected officials of the Canadian Media Guild.\u00a0 In this difficult time we need to stand together and support our members and our elected officials in a positive and progressive way.\u00a0 We want to show our support particularly for Carmel Smyth and Lise Lareau as the President and Vice-President of the Canadian Media Guild and their hard work and clear-minded approach to the challenges we face.<\/p>\n
The CMG has an election process of the greatest integrity and has proper procedures in place regarding dereliction of duty which are consistent with our Parent Union.\u00a0 It is at election time that people can make their influence felt through their ballot.\u00a0 Any attempt to undermine or circumvent this process between elections we consider to be unhelpful and destructive to the principles of this union and the solidarity to have it function properly.<\/p>\n
Although there will always be room for disagreement in the direction of the union it is important that our democratic procedures are invoked to express those opinions.<\/p>\n
