1. Reading of the Statement of Human Rights: Jonathan Spence<\/p>\n

3. Adopt Minutes from Nov. 17, 2015 (Moved: Elaine, Seconded Tony. Carries with 2\u00a0abstentions.)<\/p>\n
4. President\u2019s Report – Naomi<\/p>\n
Updating the Stewards Course with Bruce May. Report back on Holiday Party – came in on\u00a0budget & with positive feedback from the members. Report on current cases at Local\u00a0Grievance and LJEC.<\/p>\n
5. Vice President\u2019s Report – Elaine<\/p>\n
Temp committee update in Toronto. Looking into National Temp use increasing to 2009 levels\u00a0again. Agreed to train a few more people to\u00a0analyse the Establishment lists, and look for new members for Temp Cttee. (see below)<\/p>\n
6. Chief Steward\u2019s Report – Tony<\/p>\n
Update on several files he\u2019s been involved in lately, including a couple of disciplinary meetings.<\/p>\n
7. SRC Report – Claryse<\/p>\n
Unexpected change to schedules just implemented in SRC newsroom. Temp cttee found a\u00a0number of jobs – some are starting to be posted.<\/p>\n
8. Motion that the LEC cover the cost of a full day release for Helen Bagshaw to do some\u00a0organizational work for the Local Grievance Committee (Moved: Naomi, Seconded: Jonathan)<\/p>\n

9. Bruce May & Federico Carvajal – Staff Updates<\/p>\n
Bruce explained the status of the Weather Centre Grievance – it has been passed to the\u00a0National Joint Table for further discussion. Federico reported on the status of the SRC\u00a0Committee Grievance. Bruce reported that 3 national grievances have just been resolved.\u00a0Bruce also clarified that Patty Ducharme will now hold the Canada Labour Board file for CMG,\u00a0and that he is handing over the JE Committee staff rep to Patty. He also gave a rundown of the\u00a0main issues he\u2019s been dealing with on a national level lately.<\/p>\n

10. Survey – Discussion over sending Toronto members a survey with questions about\u00a0workload, social media use, training & PMSD, and ensuring that each question has a comment\u00a0section. \u00a0Perhaps add a last optional question to provide non-CBC email address.<\/p>\n
11. Retirement Training – Raj Narain has offered to help organize & run some retirement\u00a0lunch\u2019n\u2019learns, aimed at members who are 10 years & less from retirement. He has also offered\u00a0help to do a CURC-like weekend course for people who are within a couple of years of retiring.\u00a0Jonathan has been gathering CURC (Congress of UNion Retirees of Canada) information to\u00a0post to the main cmg.ca website, as well as CBC-specific retirement info.\u00a0Motion that the LEC spend up to $800 for catering & honorarium costs to hold pre-retirement\u00a0lunch\u2019n\u2019learns before the end of March, 2016. (Moved: Naomi, Seconded: Maureen) Carries\u00a0unanimously.<\/p>\n
12. Syrian Refugee CMG Support – Discussion on how CMG TO might offer help to Syrian\u00a0refugees settling in Toronto. Naomi to reach out to organizations like Culture Link, Lifeline\u00a0Syria, or PEN Canada to see how we might offer help with cultural integration this fall.<\/p>\n
13. Posted Schedules – When will we send an email to members explaining why posting\u00a0schedules (which include annual leave) matters. Naomi to follow up with MPL & Bruce.<\/p>\n
14. Establishment List Training – Motion that the LEC pay for a day of training on how to analyse\u00a0the establishment list, including 3 people from LJEC & training time for Jonathan & Elaine.<\/p>\n

15. Bi-election to replace Riza – Discussion on need for election as bi-laws stipulate 13\u00a0members & we had 14 with Riza. Pend<\/p>\n

Loss of Petty cash on the floor continues to be an issue. Report of grievances filed – mainly\u00a0arising from Temp cttee research.<\/p>\n

Working with several members on issues like timecards & right to refuse.<\/p>\n

18. Carmel Smyth – NEC Update<\/p>\n
CMG part of coalition that commissioned a report on CRTC changes & it\u2019s impacts – mainly the\u00a0loss of 15 000 jobs in Canada. A second study on Local News coming out next month. Hired\u00a0someone to research how other countries appoint their public broadcasters Boards of Directors\u00a0& President. CMG organizing drive at Vice Canada on-going. Convention coming up June 4-5,\u00a02016.<\/p>\n

Holiday breakfast on Dec. 14 was successful with at least 200 people dropping by – and under-budget.<\/p>\n

November Evacuation issues being looked at.<\/p>\n

2015 expense report considered. Proposed 2016 budget discussed – Naomi to send\u00a0suggestions to Anita.<\/p>\n
