CBC Toronto Members\u2019 AGM &#8211; November 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please join us for the CBC Toronto Location Unit&#8217;s Annual General Meeting!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our Location Unit Executive Committee (LEC) will host the <\/span><b>meeting on Thursday November 16th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The location is room A of the Conference Centre<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ground floor, enter near the maroon elevators).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Refreshments will be provided.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The LEC is recommending some bylaw amendments which you can read below.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any member can propose a bylaw amendment<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">but must <\/span><b>submit them to <\/b><b>kat.cmgto@gmail.com<\/b><b> in writing by November 7.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bylaw amendments must have at least 2\/3 of the members voting in favour at the AGM.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can read our current Location Unit Bylaws <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmg.ca\/toronto\/cbc\/bylaws-of-canadian-media-guild-toronto-location\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Come connect with your elected representatives. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bring your questions or concerns, and meet our new CMG staff reps &#8211; It is important that the Communications portion of the role is illustrated in the title.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>QUESTION # 2\u2026<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Current Article 6.3\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Recording Secretary shall attend Executive meetings of the Location Unit Executive, and shall keep full, accurate and impartial account of the proceedings of all regular or special membership and Executive meetings, and will distribute minutes of any meeting within ten working days of the meeting, and report on all correspondence and fulfill other secretarial duties as directed by the Executive, and file a copy of all letters sent out and keep on file all communications, and co-ordinate the preparation and distribution of all circulars and notices to members, and have all records ready on reasonable notice for audit by CMG or Location Trustees, and will keep electronic copies of Toronto Location Units By-Laws, Policies, correspondence, and relevant files, and preside over Membership and Executive Meetings and preserve order in the absence of both the President and the Vice-President, and on termination of office, surrender all documents and other properties of the Location Unit to the duly elected successor.\u00a0 The Recording Secretary will ensure communications between the Location Unit Executive and the membership are on-going and supported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Proposed Article 6.3<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Recording Secretary<\/span><b>\/Communications<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> shall attend Executive meetings of the Location Unit Executive, and shall keep full, accurate and impartial account of the proceedings of all regular or special membership and Executive meetings, and will distribute minutes of any meeting within ten working days of the meeting, and report on all correspondence and fulfill other secretarial duties as directed by the Executive, and file a copy of all letters sent out and keep on file all communications, and co-ordinate the preparation and distribution of all circulars and notices to members, and have all records ready on reasonable notice for audit by CMG or Location Trustees, and will keep electronic copies of Toronto Location Units By-Laws, Policies, correspondence, and relevant files, and preside over Membership and Executive Meetings and preserve order in the absence of both the President and the Vice-President, and on termination of office, surrender all documents and other properties of the Location Unit to the duly elected successor.\u00a0 The Recording Secretary<\/span><b>\/Communications<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will ensure communications between the Location Unit Executive and the membership are on-going and supported.<\/span><b> They are the de-facto chair of the Communications Committee.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Reason for change\u2026\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the LEC member in charge of communications, it makes sense to have this position chair the committee that handles communications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>QUESTION # 3\u2026<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Current Article 7.4\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The primary duties of the Chief Steward are those of a Steward. The Chief Steward will also assist and mentor Stewards, and ensure communication from the union reaches stewards, and that concerns brought forward by stewards are addressed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Proposed Article 7.4\u2026.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The primary duties of the Chief Steward are those of a Steward.
